Maqua Lake Provincial Recreation Area is located on the eastern shore of Maqua Lake, about 37km southeast from the community of Fort McMurray. This non-motorized lake provides a beautiful location for paddlers in the area that may be looking for just a day-use area, or for those looking to camp at a quiet rustic group campsite.

Maqua Lake Provincial Recreation Area only permits non-motorized watercrafts (canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards) for boating as power vessels are prohibited. The day-use area offers a parking area with picnic sites. There are 2 rustic unserviced group sites available for camping.


Facilities:

Maqua Lake Provincial Recreation Area provides a day-use area with picnic sites (which include picnic tables and firepits), along with a hand-launch area for non-motorized watercrafts. There are 2 group sites available for booking, each can accommodate up to 15 units. For booking the site there is a 5-unit minimum fee.


Dump station available off-site nearby in the community of Fort McMurray, or at Gregoire Lake Provincial Park.

Gregoire Lake Provincial Park Store (30km) offers grocery and camping supplies, along with hard-scoop ice cream and firewood sales along with trails and a large day use area including a boat launch and beach area. Nearby community (37km) of Fort McMurray is fully serviced with a full range of stores and recreational amenities.
