Overview

Description

Kootenay Plains is a large area accommodating all 8 group sites in an oval shape. Each site has a fantastic view of the Rocky Mountains, is treed and close to numerous hiking trails such as: Siffleur Falls, Two O’Clock Creek Ridge, Thompson Creek Falls and numerous others. Group sites 1, 4, 5 and 7 each have a camp shelter on them; the other sites do not. Many groups have made this location a camping tradition coming to this area for over 30 years. The other thing to mention is that there is a climbing wall located behind sites 4 and 5 open to the public. Please respect the camping groups in place and walk around the perimeter of their group site. This area is close to the well-known Abraham Lake, a man-made reservoir housing the Bighorn Dam, which is great for fishing. The North Saskatchewan River flows into it as well as many other creeks and rivers.
